BURNING OF THE HMS GASPEE – 1772-2022
2022 marks the 250th anniversary of the burning of the Gaspee. A number of events are planned for the special occasion.
The first one will be the Gaspee/Ranger Museum Weekend from April 29-May 1.
Friday night April 29 will be a fundraiser reception with access to the boathouse, which is the headquarters of the Gaspee Days Committee, and to the Pawtuxet Rangers’ armory. Tickets are $25/pp and include a beer or wine at both locations and a commemorative glass. You can purchase tickets here: Gaspee Days Museum Cocktail Hours Tickets, Fri, Apr 29, 2022 at 6:00 PM | Eventbrite
Saturday and Sunday, April 30 and May 1 are family oriented days. Both the boathouse and armory will be open to visitors. Members of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the American Revolution will be on hand in the boathouse to help you see if you have a Revolutionary War Patriot in your family. Gaspee gear will also be available in the boathouse. You can tour the armory of the Pawtuxet Rangers. In Pawtuxet Park you can march with their Color Guard, hear a fife & drum concert and learn how muskets and cannons work. Colonel Barnes will be telling a family friendly story of the Burning of the Gaspee on both days. The Black Storytellers will be presenting. On Saturday, The Children of the American Revolution will be running colonial games and quill writing. All Saturday and Sunday events are free and are family friendly. Below is the schedule.
