The Armory Hall

Pawtuxet Rangers Armory Hall Update

The primary mission of the Pawtuxet Rangers RIM 1774, our local state-chartered Militia and Fife and Drum Corps, is to perpetuate our colorful state history. One way this is accomplished is through their 1843 armory building in Pawtuxet Village on the corner of Remington and Bank Streets. Late last summer into early fall the refurbishment of the exterior began when two exterior walls were restored. This effort continues at the same time this year with additional exterior wall restoration, including roof and window work as well. Further funds that have been received to accomplish this task were from the following: Harmony Lodge #9, the Pawtuxet Village Association, the Edgewood Garden Club, Staff from the Hope Valley Elementary School, Esther Caprio, Michael and Joanna Flynn, Jeanne Knowles, Barbara Jean Notte, Lyle and Janet Perra, Donald Raleigh, Frank Scotti, David and Sandra Souto, Karen Stitt, and Marianne Welshman.

Representative Joseph M. McNamara also sponsored a State Legislative Grant for the Rangers in the amount of $1,000. Other donations and grant awards are pending and supplementary funds are continuously being sought.

In order to completely restore the outside of Armory Hall it appears that enough resources have been obtained. Once the exterior restoration is concluded the interior restoration will begin. Therefore, please consider sending a donation to this 501(C)(3) non-profit; totally volunteer organization for their next phase, the interior restoration of Armory Hall. Checks should be made out to the Pawtuxet Rangers and mailed to Armory Hall, c/o Sgt. Denise M. Foggo, Grant Coordinator, 59 Remington Street, Warwick, RI 02888. Please include your complete name and address information so a receipt for tax purposes can be sent. You can also visit Armory Hall on Wednesday evenings or by scheduling an appointment by calling 785-1774. You can learn more about the Pawtuxet Rangers at their Web site, www.pawtuxetrangers.com.
